In the works of folding screens in Japanese art,
there are several pair of works which have two screens.
For example, Sotatsu TAWARAYA: "Fujin Raijin-Zu byobu" (The folding screens of Wind God and Thunder God),
Tohaku HASEGAWA: “Ryuko-Zu Byobu (dragon and tiger)” and Artworks by artists called “Rimpa” Korin OGATA, Hoitsu SAKAI, etc.
Resonating the two is a traditional method of Japanese art.
Such pair paintings are often expressed in the word “harmony”.
One of the elements that I am most interested in music is to discover the third unexpected sound by combining two different sounds.
-Musical notes combining improvisation established in the painting by artists in the 20th century and in philosophy feelings with traces of Japanese calligraphy brush.
-The Graphic score that was experimented by avant-garde contemporary musicians in the 20th century,
By fusing them, I express music playing memorized timbre with a combination of color, shape, and texture of the surface in two screens.
Each other's tones create unexpected harmony between high and low.
It depicts more free sounds including dissonance not classified into 12 sounds.
The tension of the musical score made with threads for sewing will loosen with the passage of time, and it will decay. That time itself is music.
Through these, I want to suggest the paintings as musical scores for musical performances using the noise of memory, which is the theme of the entire work of my expression, that the audience uses the memory and collective unconsciousness and time.
The Internet society we live where history does not get disappeared.
We can see modern paintings and ancient paintings on the same screen.
There is not any special difference of both as visual information only.
However, it is accompanied by a special texture of "passage of time".
In other words,
we can use “the time of 1300 years” its artwork passed through as an element of one tone in the case of tone color, in addition to the sound due to the charm of the painting that was drawn in 1300 years ago itself.
This is a charm of its artwork that never is seen at the time of 1300 years ago.
Perhaps, expression including elements of such "time" becomes one key to unravel the secret of formation of aesthetic sense in Japan.
Music is an art that uses time, as I told above.
In this painting, I am exploring the possibility of new music that uses the time "history" as music that uses the "past time", not only the passage of time flowing on the one-way horizontal axis.
Someday, I want to play music that used “eternal time” around the world.
Definitely, it will be so strong, soft, too beautiful that it will not be able to be described in words.
